A Giant Hole Has Formed on the Sun's Surface
One of the largest coronal holes observed on the Sun this year has reportedly turned toward Earth. According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISTP), a high-speed stream of solar wind from the coronal hole, which extends approximately one million kilometers, is expected to begin reaching Earth on the night of November 6–7.
According to experts, the effects of this phenomenon are expected to last for several days, with Earth's magnetic field not anticipated to fully stabilize until the following week, around November 13–14.
The most intense geomagnetic disturbances could occur during the night leading into November 7. In the following days, conditions are expected to vary depending on the actual characteristics of the incoming solar plasma stream.
