Benefits of Quince
Quince grows as a tree or shrub and can reach a height of up to 8 meters. Its fruits are large, slightly fuzzy, dark yellow in color, and have firm flesh. They can be stored for a long time and withstand transportation over long distances without spoiling.
Quince fruits are not usually eaten raw and contain many seeds. They contain 8.2–12.0% sugar, vitamin C, up to 0.33% pectin, and 0.2–0.8% acids.
The fruit also contains tannins and essential oils, which give quince its distinctive pleasant aroma. This is why quince jam has a characteristic fragrance.
Quince is rich in malic and citric acids, as well as nutrients considered beneficial to human health.
In folk medicine, a decoction made from quince seeds is used for diarrhea and internal bleeding. For conditions related to the cardiovascular system, drinking tea with quince is recommended.
