Scientific Studies Show: Women Better Understand Others’ Emotions, Men Their Own
On average, women demonstrate higher levels of emotional intelligence than men. However, the difference varies depending on which specific ability is being measured.
Researchers analyzed 1,279 scientific studies covering data from 609,278 people across 76 countries and 1,428 separate samples. The analysis included both published and unpublished studies conducted through the end of 2023.
The advantage of women and girls was especially pronounced in recognizing and understanding other people’s emotions.
However, in tasks involving the management of one’s own emotions, men and boys showed higher results.
