How to Tell Real Pearls from Artificial Ones
Today, black pearls are considered among the rarest types of pearls. Because of their rarity, they are also considered expensive. In some countries, pearls can be sold for prices up to four times higher than gold and are in high demand among women.
There are several features that can help distinguish real pearls from artificial ones:
-
Real pearls tend to have a stronger shine, and when viewed closely, their surface may appear almost mirror-like;
-
Real pearls are not completely white;
-
Natural pearls do not have perfectly uniform shapes or sizes;
-
Artificial pearls are usually lighter in weight;
-
Real pearls feel cool to the touch and do not heat up quickly even in hot weather.
