A Sheep Sold for $1 Million in Kyrgyzstan

In Kyrgyzstan, one ram was sold for $1 million at a festival dedicated to the breeding of “Arashan” sheep, a breed specialized in the meat-and-fat production sector.

The event was attended by livestock breeders from five countries. The record-breaking sale was also confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The valuable breeding ram is a descendant of the famous ram named Frankel, which was sold to Kazakhstan for $150,000 in 2023. The breed is attracting increasing attention in the region.

In March 2026, the head of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Agriculture also proposed creating a special state platform in the form of an auction or exchange for selling purebred “Arashan” sheep.
