Hot weather will continue until October

The United Nations has warned of the possibility of intensifying extreme heat worldwide and called on countries to step up measures to address the consequences of climate change.

Temperatures across much of the Earth are expected to remain above normal between August and October of this year.

The organisation’s Secretary-General, António Guterres, said that the intensifying El Niño phenomenon could lead to previous temperature records being broken in the coming months.
