Malfunctions Detected in Mercedes-Benz Braking System
German automaker Mercedes-Benz has announced a worldwide recall of 215,231 S-Class vehicles due to a similar technical defect. The recall is related to the potential leakage of brake fluid.
The defect was identified in the brake hoses on the sedan's front axle. According to the manufacturer, damage to these hoses can reduce the effectiveness of the braking system. At high speeds in particular, such a malfunction could lead to a road accident. In addition, leaked brake fluid on the road surface may create slippery and dangerous conditions for other vehicles.
The recall affects all W223-generation S-Class models equipped with air suspension, including Maybach and AMG variants. The defect was identified in vehicles manufactured between June 2019 and November 2024.
Initially, the recall campaign was conducted only in the United States, but it has now been expanded to other countries. In Germany alone, the same defect was identified in 11,828 vehicles.
