24-Karat Gold Pedestrian Walkway Being Built in Dubai
A unique new project is being developed in Dubai’s famous “Dubai Gold District”. By the end of this year, a pedestrian walkway covered with pure 24-karat gold is expected to open there.
Rashid Al-Harmoudi, head of the district’s commercial department, told “Emirates 24/7” about the project.
Its main goal is to expand Dubai’s tourism opportunities and further strengthen the city’s position in the international gold market.
The new walkway will offer local and international visitors the unusual experience of walking along a gold-covered street.
In addition, the area is expected to host the largest exhibition of gold jewellery and precious products in the Middle East.
Commercial activity in the “Dubai Gold District” is currently growing rapidly. Since the beginning of the year, the number of major companies involved in gold trading has increased by 20%. The number of new stores selling gemstones, luxury watches and jewellery has risen by 15%.
According to Rashid Al-Harmoudi, the number of businesses and commercial organizations moving into the district is expected to grow by around 10–20% next year.
As a result, the construction of new business centers and retail outlets is also being planned.
