What Caused Wolves to Move into Populated Areas?

Large investments by “Google” in artificial intelligence projects in northern Europe have sparked major environmental disputes.

The cutting down of thousands of trees to build data centers in Finland’s Otanmäki and Muhos areas has raised concerns among environmental activists and local residents.

Clearing large areas of forest for construction has disrupted the natural habitats of wild animals.

According to local resident Anni Ranta, wild animals that have lost their familiar habitats are now being seen more frequently around populated areas.

She said she is concerned not only about the irreversible damage to nature but is also considering moving away because of future construction activity and technical noise.

According to Mari Annala, an ecologist with the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation, around 150,000 trees have been cut down.

There are currently 145 different projects to build new data centers in Finland.

Thanks to its cool climate, which helps save energy when cooling equipment, as well as its geopolitical and geological stability, Finland remains an attractive location for international technology giants.
