2026 Nobel Prize Laureates
The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to American scientist Karl Deisseroth and German scientists Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel. They received the prize for developing optogenetics, a method that makes it possible to control neurons using light.
Their optogenetics method allows researchers to study how nerve cells in the brain form memories, emotions, and patterns of behavior. The technique is used in research on nerve cells, as well as in studies of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Belgian scientist Francis Halzen for his contribution to astrophysics. His discoveries may help reveal cosmic phenomena that are still not fully understood by science.
He was honored for his contribution to the development of the IceCube detector and for the discovery of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos.
The 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to French scientist Henri Kagan and Japanese scientist Kenso Soai. They received the prize for discovering nonlinear effects and autocatalysis in asymmetric organic synthesis.
