Winner of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature Announced
The 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to Canadian writer Anne Carson. She was honored for her bold and distinctive works that create new forms of contemporary literature in a creative dialogue with classical literary traditions.
Throughout her career, Anne Carson has written poetry, worked as a translator, and taught at various universities. She has described the study of the origins of words — etymology — as a starting point for her creative work.
For reference, Uzbek writer Hamid Ismailov was also included among the candidates for the 2026 Nobel Prize. He writes in Uzbek and Russian, and his works have been translated into English, Turkish, German, and French.
The 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai. He received the prize for his compelling and profound body of work, which once again affirmed the power of art amid apocalyptic terror.
