Branch of Chinese Pedagogical University to Open in Khiva: First Students to Receive Free Education

A branch of China’s Liaoning Normal University will open in Khiva. All students admitted through the 2030/2031 academic year will be able to study free of charge under state-funded grants.

The branch will be established as part of a joint project involving Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Urgench State University, and Liaoning Normal University. The new institution will operate as an independent university.

Classes will be taught in Uzbek, Chinese, and English, while academic programs will be developed in line with Chinese standards while taking Uzbekistan’s requirements into account.

After the 2030/2031 academic year, 30% of places will be offered annually on a grant basis, while the remaining places will be available under tuition contracts.

The branch will also cooperate with universities and technical colleges in the Khorezm region. In particular, Chinese teaching methods are planned to be introduced for students studying tourism and information technology at technical colleges.

After graduating from technical college, students will be able to continue their education in bachelor’s degree programs.
