Turkmenistan’s ANZAN Mental Arithmetic Championship Concludes
Turkmenistan’s ANZAN Mental Arithmetic Championship took place as part of the “Kids Expo: Everything for Children” international exhibition and fair. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, and the Kämil Bilim and Zehin Yoly educational centers. Approximately 120 schoolchildren aged 6 to 14 from across the country participated.
Following the competitive intellectual contest, 24 students received prizes, while five participants set new national records.
First place in the overall standings went to Emrah Shamuradov, a seventh-grade student at the boarding school affiliated with Secondary School No. 9 in Turkmenabat, Lebap Region. Second place was awarded to Ybrayym Kerimov, a fifth-grade student at Secondary School No. 41 in Ashgabat. Third place went to Kerim Gahrymanov, a fourth-grade student at Secondary School No. 3 in Sayat District, Lebap Region. Another 21 students placed first, second and third in their respective age categories.
Veli Saparov, a seventh-grade student at Secondary School No. 1 in Garabekewul District, Lebap Region, set a national record for memorizing binary numbers. Mekan Nurgeldiyev, a seventh-grade student at Specialized Secondary School No. 41 in Turkmenabat, distinguished himself in calculating square roots mentally.
Mekan Batyrov, an eighth-grade student at Secondary School No. 3 in Balkanabat, Balkan Region, achieved the best result in mental multiplication. Rovach Begenjov, a seventh-grade student at Specialized Secondary School No. 28 in Turkmenabat, which focuses on exact and natural sciences, set national records in mental addition and the fastest mental addition.
The Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan presented commemorative gifts and laptops to the prizewinners and national record holders. The highest-scoring student and the teacher who prepared him under the ANZAN mental arithmetic program received a certificate for a seven-day trip to Vietnam. Students who set national records were awarded certificates for a five-day trip to the Awaza National Tourist Zone.
