How harmful is sugar?
It is well known that sugar provides the body with quick energy. However, consuming too much of it can lead to obesity, increased body fat, and a higher risk of developing diabetes.
According to scientists, removing excessive sugar from the diet improves the condition of the blood vessels and heart, helps normalize body weight and metabolism, slows the ageing of the skin and the entire body, and reduces the likelihood of developing cancer.
So, how much sugar per day is considered normal depending on a person’s age?
According to information published on the World Health Organization’s website, the recommended daily amount is 25 grams for children aged 2 to 5, 30–45 grams for those aged 6 to 18, and up to 50 grams for people aged 19 and over.
