NASA Specialists Complete Mars Experiment and Return to Earth
The 378-day experiment was successfully completed on October 31, 2026. The participants included mission leader Maximilian Cross, physician Sophie Miller, researcher David Stark and engineer Oliver McCall.
The main goals of the experiment were to live in a facility built using 3D-printing technology, grow agricultural crops, repair equipment, experience a 22-minute communication delay with Earth and study the effects of long-term isolation on the human body.
Similar short-term experiments conducted in the region, including last year’s “SANA-1” project in Astana, also provided scientists with valuable experience.
