New Types of Buses Appear in Indonesia

A new assistance system has been launched in Palangka Raya, on the Indonesian island of Borneo, for residents suffering from smoke and haze caused by severe forest fires. Special white-and-blue buses operating under the supervision of medical staff allow local residents to receive necessary assistance.

Residents first complete a brief registration process and then breathe pure oxygen for 5–10 minutes using special equipment and tubes. In addition to the mobile stations, the region also operates special centers known as “oxygen houses” for residents and firefighters.
