Did You Know That Lack of Sleep May Lead to Diabetes?

Scientists at Uppsala University, one of Sweden’s leading universities, have reported that insufficient sleep may increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The study states that sleeping less than 6 hours per night raises the risk of diabetes by 16%. It also reports that lack of sleep may reduce the positive effects of a healthy diet.

After analyzing health data from approximately 250,000 people in the United Kingdom, the researchers concluded that sleep plays an important role in overall health.

The researchers noted: “We recommend making sleep a priority. Sleep is beneficial for long-term metabolic health.”
