Health Benefits of Green Onions
Green onions are considered a source of vitamins and minerals needed for the normal functioning of internal organs and body systems.
To help meet the daily requirement for vitamins C and A, as well as beta-carotene, it is recommended to consume around 150 grams of greens per day. Young green onion shoots contain a significant amount of vitamin K (phylloquinone), along with smaller amounts of B vitamins, vitamin PP, and vitamin E.
Green onions contain about 19 kcal. Approximately 93% of their composition is water, while they contain about 1.3% protein, 4.5% carbohydrates, and 0.9% fiber. They contain virtually no fat.
