Toyota to Take Century Brand, Positioned Above Lexus, to the Global Market
Toyota plans to expand sales of its luxury Century brand beyond Japan.
At present, Century vehicles are sold mainly in Japan, with limited sales also taking place in China.
The appearance of a Century crossover in Detroit can be seen as a possible sign that the brand is preparing to enter international markets.
Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda arrived in a Century at a reception held at the Automotive Hall of Fame.
According to the company’s Chief Technology Officer Hiroki Nakajima, the aim was to showcase the vehicle to representatives of the U.S. automotive industry and emphasize that it is intended for the global market.
