Turkmen Sambo Wrestlers Win 4 Medals at World Cup

Dushanbe hosted the 2026 Sambo World Cup. For two days, the capital of Tajikistan became the venue for competitions in three disciplines: sport sambo, combat sambo, and sambo for visually impaired athletes.

Turkmen sambo wrestlers concluded the prestigious tournament with strong results. Following the first day of competition among men and women, winners and medalists were determined in 19 weight categories. Sapar Dovletov won a bronze medal in the 71 kg category.

On the second day of the tournament, Abdulla Nazargeldiyev, competing in the 88 kg category, and Malikberdi Begiyev, competing in the over 98 kg category, both claimed bronze medals in combat sambo. In sport sambo, Ykbal Saparova defeated all of her opponents in the 50 kg category to become the Sambo World Cup champion.
