Turkmen Athlete Wins Silver at Asian Championship in Amman

Seventeen-year-old Turkmen karate athlete Gurbannazar Amandurdyyev won a silver medal at the 24th Asian Championship for cadets, juniors and under-21 athletes.

The competition in Amman, the capital of Jordan, brought together 338 athletes from 21 countries. The Turkmen competitor took second place in the junior kumite event in the under-55 kg weight category.

He is coached by Aydyn Charyyev, head coach of Turkmenistan’s national team. With his consistent results, Gurbannazar Amandurdyyev is among the leading candidates to compete at the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Dakar in the autumn of 2026.
