Petrol prices reach record levels

The average price of one liter of petrol in France has reached €2.11. According to the newspaper “Le Figaro”, this is the highest figure among the data collected by the government since 1985.

The price of 95-E10 petrol, which contains up to 10% ethanol, increased by another 2.3 euro cents last week. As a result, fuel prices have been rising for six consecutive weeks.

The price increase continues despite the price cap applied at stations operated by TotalEnergies, the country’s largest retail fuel company.

The company limits the price of one liter of petrol to €1.99, while diesel fuel is capped at €2.25.
