BMW Begins Preparations for Production of Hydrogen-Powered X5 Crossover

BMW has presented a pre-production prototype of the hydrogen-powered iX5 Hydrogen crossover, bringing it closer to mass production.

The vehicles are currently undergoing road tests, while the company has begun preparing production of the components required for the future model. According to forecasts, the iX5 Hydrogen could accelerate to 100 km/h in less than five seconds. Its planned WLTP range is approximately 750 km, and refilling the hydrogen tanks is expected to take less than five minutes.

BMW introduced the new-generation X5 in June. Gasoline and diesel versions equipped with mild-hybrid systems will enter the market in November. Plug-in hybrid versions are expected to appear in 2027, while the hydrogen-powered iX5 Hydrogen variant is expected to reach the market in 2028.
