Meteorite Found in the Sahara Desert

A meteorite known as Teghaza 001, discovered in the Sahara Desert in 2022, has been found to be more than 4.1 billion years old and may shed light on the planet’s early history of water. For publication on news portals, it has been suggested that it could be presented as “The Mysterious Guest of the Sahara — Saharite-1,” or simply “Sahara-01.”

The ancient space rock was discovered in eight fragments near the village of Bir-Chali in Mali. According to scientists’ research, it has been identified as the oldest among 435 Martian meteorites registered on Earth.

According to a scientific study published in the journal Science under the leadership of NASA specialist Yang Liu, researchers examined the ratio of uranium to lead in zircon crystals, allowing them to determine the meteorite’s formation age with precision.
