Robot Developed to Examine the Small Intestine

Specialists at the Massachusetts Institute have developed a thin, snake-like robotic device designed to examine the small intestine. The new technology could help doctors simplify complex medical procedures and reach deeper, hard-to-access areas of the body.

The robot moves by twisting like a snake. Flexible chambers built into its structure inflate and deflate in sequence, helping the device bend in the required direction and move forward.

Scientists are currently continuing their work to further improve the robotic system.
