Hackers launched a cyberattack overnight on Binance, one of the world’s leading trading platforms. According to expert estimates, the amount of stolen funds could range from $1.7 billion to $5.5 billion. If the information is confirmed, it could become one of the largest thefts in the history of digital currencies.

The platform’s management has so far only announced that an investigation is underway and stated that customers’ balances remain protected. Nevertheless, the news caused concern across global markets.

Companies managing stablecoins such as Tether (USDT) and Circle (USDC) reported losses linked to digital assets worth $1.7 billion. For this reason, the exact amount of the company’s actual losses remains unclear.
