Chinese Cars Gain Ground in the Global Market
Chinese automaker Leapmotor sold 240,000 vehicles worldwide in the second quarter. According to Nikkei, the startup set a new sales record and, for the first time, surpassed major Japanese automakers such as Subaru and Mitsubishi in sales volume.
For comparison, Subaru sold 230,000 vehicles during the same period, while Mitsubishi sold 170,000. The brand’s best-selling model, the Leapmotor T03 hatchback, starts at €15,900 in Europe and $9,400 in China.
Prices for Subaru and Mitsubishi models start at around $25,000 in China and €30,000 in Europe.
