BMW Develops Holographic Dashboard Controlled in Mid-Air

BMW has introduced the HoloActive Touch concept, a holographic dashboard that drivers can control using hand gestures. Autoblog reported the development.

According to the company, the technology is designed to keep important information within the driver’s field of view and reduce the need to look away from the road while driving.

In difficult weather conditions or heavy traffic, drivers often have to take their eyes off the road to check information on the instrument panel. Even a brief distraction can sometimes create a serious safety risk. In some vehicles, this issue is already partly addressed through head-up displays projected onto the windshield.
