34-year-old traveler entered the Guinness World Records after walking barefoot from Istanbul to Ireland

34-year-old Eamon Keaveney from Claremorris, Ireland, entered the Guinness World Records by completing a barefoot journey from Istanbul to Ireland.

Over 369 days — slightly more than a year — Keaveney covered a total distance of 6,805.8 kilometers. He began his journey in Türkiye and traveled through Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, England, and Wales before returning to his homeland of Ireland.

Previously, in 2016, the Irish athlete set a record by walking 2,080.14 kilometers barefoot. However, his achievement was later surpassed by Poland’s Paweł Durakiewicz, who covered 3,409.75 kilometers, motivating Keaveney to prepare for a new record attempt.

In addition to long-distance walking, Keaveney set another unusual record in 2024: he crossed the entire length of Ireland on a unicycle in five days.
