Graduates who completed higher education in Türkiye! The residence permit has been extended to up to 2 years

The Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Türkiye has published an important official letter concerning short-term residence permits for international graduates.

Under the new regulation, international graduates who have completed higher education in Türkiye will have the opportunity to extend their residence permit for an additional year.

According to the official letter, foreign nationals who have completed higher education in Türkiye and apply within six months of their graduation date may, subject to meeting the relevant conditions, extend the previously granted one-year short-term residence permit for an additional year.

As a result, the total period of residence may be extended to up to two years.

The new regulation will also apply to international graduates who currently hold a one-year short-term residence permit.

They may reapply while their permit is still valid or within 90 days after its expiry and, provided that they meet the other legal requirements, may be eligible to obtain an additional one-year residence permit.
