Turkmenistan’s Initiative to Establish Joint Trade Zones Discussed

In late August, several meetings and negotiations were held during a working visit by Economic Cooperation Organization Secretary General Asad Majeed Khan and Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran to Golestan Province.

The discussions addressed the further implementation of Turkmenistan’s initiative to establish joint trade zones among the ECO member states.

The parties noted that establishing a joint trade zone could make a significant contribution to the development of the ECO region by expanding trade, increasing transit traffic and strengthening investment cooperation.
