Have you won a Green Card? Then you need to know this information!
Not all winners of this year’s Green Card lottery will be able to obtain their visas in time. The US Department of State has warned that the Green Card quota may be reached before the fiscal year officially ends.
The opportunity to obtain permanent residence under the Diversity Visa 2026 lottery results will remain valid only until September 30 of this year. After that date, immigrant visas will not be issued to winners or their family members, even if the established quota has not been fully reached.
Along with the Diversity Visa Program, the Visa Bulletin also published updated dates for certain visa categories related to family reunification and employment-based immigration.
In particular, the Department of State announced that visa issuance in the EB-1 category for Indian nationals could be temporarily suspended in the coming weeks if the allocated limit is reached.
It was also noted that a similar situation could arise for the EB-2 category.
