A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the new UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan

On 20 July, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Xiaojun Wang, the new UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan.

The Minister congratulated Xiaojun Wang on her appointment to the responsible position and wished her success in her work aimed at further strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the 2026–2030 Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development, the preparation of Turkmenistan’s Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and the activities of the “Turkmenistan–UN” Strategic Advisory Council.

The parties expressed interest in developing new joint initiatives aligned with Turkmenistan’s national priorities and the global sustainable development agenda. They also emphasised the importance of advancing Turkmenistan’s international initiatives within the United Nations and consistently implementing the Awaza Political Declaration and the Awaza Programme of Action for 2024–2034.
