The conditions for issuing multiple-entry Schengen visas will be improved

Sapar Palvanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Belgium, and Johannes Luchner, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs, discussed future areas for developing cooperation on migration, mobility and visa policy.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed its interest in establishing direct working contacts between the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs, and the competent authorities of the European Union member states.

It was noted that such cooperation would help accelerate the exchange of information, address documentation and consular issues more effectively, and better protect the interests of Turkmen citizens living or travelling abroad.

The parties also considered opportunities to facilitate mutual travel.

In particular, they discussed Turkmenistan’s consultations with the Benelux countries on easing visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports, improving the conditions for issuing multiple-entry Schengen visas, and strengthening consular cooperation.
