Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan discussed developing cooperation within the customs system.

A bilateral meeting was held between the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and Natig Shirinoff, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at the headquarters of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan. The parties noted that cooperation between the customs authorities has reached a new level following the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan. Practical results included the preliminary exchange of information and the signing of documents on customs statistics. Furthermore, within the framework of the 'Smart Customs' concept, the parties discussed the possibilities of preparing a joint 'Roadmap' aimed at coordinating digital systems. In this regard, the implementation of automated risk analysis mechanisms and the development of the 'Single Window' system are envisaged. Particular attention was also paid to the issues of joining the international e-TIR project, which will allow for the speeding up of cargo formalities, including at the ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku.
