The President of Turkmenistan honoured the memory of Georgia’s heroes

During his state visit to Georgia, the President of Turkmenistan laid flowers at Heroes Square in Tbilisi.

The Head of State placed a bouquet at the memorial bearing the names of heroes who sacrificed their lives for Georgia’s freedom and unity and paid tribute to those who fought for their homeland.

The Heroes Memorial, located in the centre of Heroes Square, is 51 metres high and consists of 16 marble slabs inscribed with the names of more than 4,000 people who gave their lives for the freedom of their homeland in different years.

In May 2010, a special memorial was also unveiled in the square in honour of those who died for Georgia’s independence and territorial unity.
