Our country will put forward initiatives to promote peace and stability at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported on this matter during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held via a digital system on July 24, presenting Turkmenistan’s priority positions for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently carrying out the necessary work to prepare for the upcoming session.
Based on the initiatives put forward by the head of state at the international and regional political levels, Turkmenistan’s priority positions for the 81st session of the UN General Assembly have been prepared. The document includes several key areas.
Strengthening global peace and security was identified as one of the main priorities. In this regard, it was noted that Turkmenistan views the 81st session of the General Assembly as an important stage in uniting the efforts of the international community to strengthen peace and stability.
For many years, the country has advanced a number of initiatives within the United Nations and its structures. These include resolutions related to the principles of “Peace and Trust” and “Dialogue Is a Guarantee of Peace,” as well as the resolution entitled “The Role and Importance of the Policy of Neutrality in Maintaining and Strengthening International Peace, Security and the Sustainable Development Process.”
After hearing the report, the President of Turkmenistan noted that the country attaches great importance to developing multifaceted cooperation with the United Nations and strengthening global peace and security.
In this regard, the head of state supported the prepared proposals and instructed the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs to ensure thorough preparations for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
