A pilot rainwater harvesting project will be implemented between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan

The Project Office of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia in Turkmenistan and the Central Asian Institute for Environmental Research discussed the preparation of a pilot project on rainwater harvesting and use.

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia reported this following the results of an online meeting.

During the meeting, the parties considered the prospects for long-term cooperation, the implementation of joint international projects, and the introduction of innovative technologies in the areas of sustainable water resource management, climate change adaptation, and environmental protection.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare and sign a Memorandum of Understanding, identify pilot project sites, exchange hydrometeorological and technical data, jointly develop the project concept, and prepare a relevant application to attract international funding.
