Christine Hawkins will temporarily head the U.S. diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan

Christine Hawkins has been appointed acting head of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan.

She will assume her duties in Ashgabat as the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires.

The decision was made in connection with the completion of U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood’s diplomatic assignment.

According to the U.S. foreign policy agency, during her tenure in Turkmenistan she established strong partnerships and contributed to strengthening several areas of bilateral cooperation.
