The Hyakim of Ashgabat took part in the first international forum of sister cities

The first international forum of sister cities was held in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan. Rahym Gandymov, Hyakim of Ashgabat, took part in the event. The forum brought together representatives from around 30 countries.

The forum addressed issues related to developing intercity cooperation, improving urban governance systems, introducing modern technologies and exchanging best practices in sustainable urban development.

Speaking at the forum, the Hyakim of Ashgabat highlighted the importance of cooperation between cities in expanding international partnerships, implementing joint initiatives and exchanging best practices in digitalisation, transport and engineering infrastructure development, as well as creating a comfortable urban environment.

As part of the forum, a presentation dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat was held. Participants were introduced to the Turkmen capital’s achievements in modern urban planning, architecture, urban improvement and sustainable development.
