Citizens of our country will be able to obtain a Schengen visa

For citizens of Turkmenistan seeking to obtain a Schengen visa, consular services are provided by two diplomatic missions located in Ashgabat: the embassies of Germany and Italy.

Through the German Embassy in Ashgabat, Schengen visas can be obtained for travel to Germany, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Estonia, Spain, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Finland and Sweden.

In addition, the embassy processes visas for Switzerland only for holders of Turkmenistan’s service and diplomatic passports.

Appointments for submitting documents are made exclusively through the embassy’s electronic appointment system.

Through the Italian Embassy in Ashgabat, applicants can obtain a visa for Italy, as well as a short-term Schengen visa for France valid for up to 90 days.

Although France has an embassy in Ashgabat, documents from citizens of Turkmenistan applying for short-term visas to France are accepted specifically by the consular section of the Italian Embassy.

Long-term visas for France, as well as visas for the country’s overseas territories, are processed through the VFS Global service centre in Istanbul.

Appointments for submitting documents are made free of charge through the Prenot@mi electronic system.

Considering that Romania has been part of the Schengen Area since 2024 and issues uniform Schengen visas, a visa for this country can also be obtained directly in Ashgabat.

In Ashgabat, Schengen visas are not issued to holders of ordinary passports for travel to Bulgaria, Hungary, Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.

Citizens wishing to travel to these countries will need to apply to the relevant consular offices located outside Turkmenistan.
