Another important step has been taken toward promoting Turkmenistan's national heritage internationally. The archival materials submitted by Turkmenistan under the title “Archival Sources on the Life and Works of Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Adham” have been officially inscribed on the Asia-Pacific Regional Register of UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme.
This historic development was announced during the 11th General Meeting of the UNESCO Memory of the World Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP) and an international seminar held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from November 2 to 6, 2026.
The event was jointly organized by the National Archives of Indonesia (ANRI), the National Commissions for UNESCO of the Republic of Korea and Indonesia, and the Korea Heritage Service. At the opening ceremony, Indonesian Minister of Culture Fadli Zon and MOWCAP Chair Kwibae Kim delivered welcoming remarks.
Turkmenistan was represented at this prestigious forum by the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO and a research fellow from the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
