Speech by Du Yuming, General Director of CNPC International Turkmenistan
Dear Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Mr. Agajanov!
Dear State Minister and Chairman of the “Turkmengaz” State Concern, Mr. Babayev!
Dear conference participants!
Ladies and gentlemen!
Good afternoon!
It is a great honour for me to attend this forum. First of all, on behalf of CNPC, allow me to congratulate the organizers and participants on the opening of the 31st International Conference and Exhibition “Oil & Gas of Turkmenistan — 2026.”
I would like to thank the organizers for creating this important international platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience and strengthening cooperation.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the Government and people of Turkmenistan on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, as well as express my deep appreciation and gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people for their consistent support of China–Turkmenistan energy cooperation.
Over the past two decades, cooperation between our countries in the gas sector has become one of the most significant examples of long-term strategic partnership across Eurasia.
It is based on mutual trust, respect for the interests of both sides and a shared commitment to common development.
The history of this cooperation gained new momentum following the signing of the General Agreement in April 2006 and the Production Sharing Agreement for the Bagtyyarlyk contract area in July 2007.
CNPC began developing fields on the right bank of the Amu Darya, which became an important resource base for the Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline.
Today, thanks to the joint efforts of our two countries, Turkmen natural gas is supplied to various regions of China.
This large-scale infrastructure project strengthens energy security, supports economic development and creates long-term benefits for all participants in the partnership.
An important milestone in its further development was the friendly visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to China in March 2026 and his meeting with the President of the People’s Republic of China.
The agreements reached during the visit gave new momentum to the strategic cooperation between the two countries.
A practical confirmation of this was the official launch of work under Phase IV of the development of the Galkynysh gas field, held on April 17, 2026, in Mary velayat with the participation of senior representatives of the two states — the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Ding Xuexiang, First Vice Premier of the State Council of China.
For CNPC, this project is of particular importance.
It reflects a new stage in China–Turkmenistan energy cooperation and our shared commitment to high technological standards, efficient management, environmental responsibility and mutual benefit.
Ladies and gentlemen!
Turkmenistan possesses some of the world’s largest natural gas reserves and consistently implements a strategy for the sustainable development of its energy sector.
The country makes a significant contribution to strengthening regional and global energy security by supporting stable supplies and the development of international cooperation.
This year’s conference is being held in the year declared in Turkmenistan as “Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — Homeland of Purposeful Winged Steeds.”
It also coincides with the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence and symbolizes an important stage in the development of its international relations.
Looking to the future, we see significant potential for the further expansion of the China–Turkmenistan partnership.
Through our joint efforts, we intend to strengthen mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the gas sector and contribute to the sustainable development of the energy industry.
CNPC is ready to continue working closely with all partners to improve the efficiency of energy projects, introduce innovations and digital technologies, and strengthen long-term energy security.
Ladies and gentlemen!
In conclusion, allow me once again to thank the Government of Turkmenistan, the leadership of the “Turkmengaz” State Concern and the organizers of the conference for supporting our cooperation.
I wish the 31st International Conference and Exhibition “Oil & Gas of Turkmenistan — 2026” productive work and great success, and I wish all participants good health, prosperity and new professional achievements.
Thank you for your attention!
