Pumpkin Weighing More Than Half a Ton Grown

Another impressive record has been set in the world of gardening. Gardeners from the United Kingdom and the United States have managed to surpass previous world marks through persistence and dedication.

At the “Wargrave Nursery Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off” competition held in Berkshire, England, 65-year-old gardener Ian Paton presented a giant pumpkin weighing 1,296 kilograms.

The enormous vegetable, measuring more than 6 meters in circumference, was nicknamed “Bagheera” after the black panther from the famous “The Jungle Book.”

The result surpassed Paton’s previous record of 1,279 kilograms, which he set last year together with his twin brother Stuart.

“Bagheera” is currently on display at “Sunnyfields Farm” in Southampton. Visitors can see it until the end of October, after which the pumpkin is planned to be used as feed for cattle.

The record-setting gardener does not intend to stop there. He hopes to grow pumpkins weighing up to 1,360 kilograms in the future.
