Akrep Period Begins in Turkmenistan

According to the Turkmen folk calendar, the Akrep period has begun. It lasts from October 23 to November 22, and our ancestors used to prepare for it in advance.

It was during this period that they prepared products such as dried apricots and dried melon.

Akrep is traditionally believed to indicate what the coming winter may be like.

According to folk beliefs passed down through generations, if ants pile up a large amount of soil around the entrances to their nests, cold days are expected. This is because they are believed to dig their nests deeper to protect themselves from the winter cold.
