Spider-Man Street Opens in New York

As is well known, fictional heroes also have their own “places of residence.” A section of Ingram Street in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, was ceremonially given the additional name “Spider-Man Way.”

According to comic books from 1989, the main character Peter Parker lived at number 20 on this very street. For that reason, the ceremony brought together city officials, numerous local residents, and dozens of fans dressed as Spider-Man.

Mark Ditko, a relative of Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko, noted that the authors originally portrayed Peter Parker as “an ordinary resident of an ordinary street.”

Created as a regular teenager from Queens, the character later became one of the most recognizable heroes in modern pop culture. Today, millions of people of all ages around the world admire him and try to be like him.
