World’s Heaviest Gold Earring Made in Dubai

Dubai jewellers have once again amazed the world. A giant gold earring weighing more than 16.5 kilograms has been unveiled in the city.

The remarkable piece of jewellery was officially entered into the Guinness World Records in two categories at once — as the world’s largest and heaviest gold earring.

The unusual piece, called “Mayura Sahasra”, meaning “A Thousand Peacocks”, was created by the “Joyalukkas Jewellery” brand from 22-karat gold.

It measures 1.215 meters in height, while its width, or diameter, reaches 68.2 centimeters.

A total of 55 experienced craftsmen spent 5,840 hours creating this rare work of jewellery art.

For the design, the jewellers used the image of a peacock, which is regarded in Indian culture as a symbol of beauty, pride and elegance.

The base of the piece was made in the style of traditional South Asian bell-shaped “jhumka” earrings, while its surface was decorated with delicate patterns resembling peacock feathers.

The earring has been placed on permanent display at the “Jewel of Joy by Joyalukkas” store in Dubai’s famous “Gold District”.

Visitors and tourists who wish to see the unusual piece can view it free of charge every day from 10:00 to 22:00.
