Expected Fight Between Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder Falls Through

Former heavyweight champions Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine (25-0, 16 KOs) and Deontay Wilder of the United States (45-4-1, 43 KOs) have abandoned plans to face each other in the ring.

Representatives of both sides had been planning to organize the fight in the opening months of 2027, but the negotiations failed to produce a positive result. According to journalist Mike Coppinger, the parties were unable to reach an agreement on the contract terms.

Several other sources also report that the talks were completely halted around three weeks ago because of financial terms.

As a result, Usyk’s team is currently reviewing new plans and has not yet entered negotiations with another opponent.

At the same time, reports suggest that Wilder has already contacted Jai Opetaia. He is reportedly trying to convince Opetaia to take part in a major boxing event scheduled for December 11.

The bout is expected to take place before the main event between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
