New Hyundai Tucson Sets Record for Orders in South Korea
Hyundai’s updated Tucson crossover attracted more than 15,000 buyers on the first day of official orders in South Korea, setting the highest result in the model’s history.
The previous Tucson received 10,842 orders on its first day of sales, while the new model significantly surpassed that record.
The Inspiration trim was the most popular among customers, chosen by 44% of buyers. The base H-Pick trim accounted for 33% of orders, while 22% selected the Exclusive version.
The Tucson XRT version, designed for off-road driving, attracted only 1% of buyers.
One of the key features of the new Tucson is that 55% of customers chose the hybrid version. In the previous generation, hybrids accounted for 48% of sales.
Thus, for the first time in the model’s history, the hybrid version outsold the conventional gasoline-powered version.
In South Korea, the new crossover is offered with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. Its output has increased by 13 horsepower compared with the previous model, reaching 193 hp.
In addition, the previous 7-speed dual-clutch transmission has been replaced by an 8-speed automatic transmission.
