Famous Natural Landmark Collapses in Hawaii
The famous Hōlei Sea Arch, located along the coast of the island of Hawaii, has collapsed into the Pacific Ocean.
The natural landmark, situated within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, was estimated to be around 550 years old. Formed through the gradual erosion of lava rock by ocean waves, the arch stood about 27 meters high.
The exact time of its collapse is unknown. According to reports, it was still standing on September 23. However, after the national park was temporarily closed due to a tropical storm and later reopened, visitors discovered that the natural arch had disappeared.
